- Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Ascorbate, or Liposomal Vitamin C
While renowned for immune support, Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is physiologically indispensable for tissue repair and collagen synthesis. It acts as an obligate cofactor for two key enzymes—prolyl hydroxylase and lysyl hydroxylase. These enzymes are responsible for stabilizing the collagen molecule into its strong, triple-helix structure. Without adequate Vitamin C, the body cannot form structurally sound collagen, regardless of how much collagen protein is consumed.
